MLA Box Lacrosse Officials Development Pathway

Entry Level

First-year officials

·         Attend an Entry-level/Level 1 clinic

·         Must score at least 70% on the Entry-level certification exam

·         Minimum 14 years of age (By end of the year)

Level 1

Second-year officials

Exceptions may be made based on playing experience

·         Attend an Entry-level/Level 1 clinic

·         Must score at least 70% on the Level 1 certification exam

·         Minimum 15 years of age (in the calendar year)

Level 2

Third-year officials

·         Attend a Level 2/3 clinic

·         Score 80% or better on the Level 2 certification exam

·         Minimum 16 years of age in the calendar year

Level 3

Requires evaluation to progress

·         Attend a Level 2/3 clinic

·         Score 85% or better on the Level 3 certification exam

·         Minimum 18 years of age in the calendar year

Level 4

Invitation only

·         Attend a level 4-5 clinic (invite only)

·         Score 85% or better on the Level 4-5 certification exam

·         Subject to in-game evaluation

·         Minimum 20 years of age in the calendar year

Level 5

Invitation only

·         Attend a level 4-5 clinic (invite only)

·         Score 90% or better on the Level 4-5 certification exam

·         National championship experience with evaluations

·         Subject to in-game evaluation

·         Minimum 22 years of age in the calendar year
