MLA Annual General Meeting - October 19th
The 2024 Manitoba Lacrosse Association Annual General Meeting will be taking place on Saturday, October 19th at 4:00 PM @ Notre Dame Recreation Centre.
All Members in Good Standing are encouraged to attend.

The Manitoba Lacrosse Association is in the preliminary stages of developing a new Strategic Plan for 2025-2029. Stay tuned for details on a strategic planning session, to be held prior to the AGM at the same location.
Elections of positions on the BOD include:
- President, 2-year term
- Director of Indigenous Development, 2-year term
- Directors-at-large, 2-year term
The MLA Nominations Committee is seeking interested and qualified candidates to fill the positions available for election. Interested individuals should contact Nominations Committee Chair Paul Nicholson at nominations@manitobalacrosse.com. The Committee is looking for individuals interested in volunteering in the following roles:
- President
- Must have been on the BOD for one full year in the last two
- Passion for the game of lacrosse
- Board experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Advocacy and Networking
- Director of Indigenous Development
- Must be of Indigenous descent from the First Nations, Métis, or Inuit communities
- Experience in or a demonstrated capability of working with Indigenous communities and an understanding of Indigenous cultures
- Engages with Indigenous communities to grow the game of lacrosse
- Helps in the development and improvement of lacrosse programming within the Indigenous community in Manitoba
- Represents Manitoba on the Lacrosse Canada Aboriginal Development Committee
- Director-at-large, Field Lacrosse Director
- Chairs the Field Directorate
- Well-versed in field lacrosse (men's and women's)
- Oversees the development of field lacrosse across the province
- Coordinates with Regional and Club Representatives
- Director-at-large, Grassroots & Outreach
- Considers the marketing of the sport to new athletes/families
- Works with the office, clubs, regions on the programming offered for grassroots
- Should be well-versed in lacrosse
- Understands Long-Term Athlete Development
- Marketing experience is considered an asset

3.9 Voting - At all Annual and Special meetings of the Association, all Members will be entitled to one vote. The Member must have achieved the age of 18 years of age by the day of the Annual General or Special Meeting. If a Member has not achieved the age of 18 years of age by the day of the Annual General Meeting or Special Meeting, one legal guardian of said Member as declared on his/her application for membership shall be entitled to the vote of said Member by proxy at an Annual General or Special Meeting.
4.2 Any individual who is eighteen (18) years of age or older, who has the power under law to contract, who is a voting Member of the Association in good standing is eligible for election as a Director.
4.4 Any nomination of an individual for election must be supported by a Member, must include the written consent of the nominee, and must be submitted to the MLA office fourteen (14) days prior to the Annual Meeting. Should there be no eligible nominee for a given position on the Board of Directors at an Annual General Meeting, nominations will be accepted from the floor.
4.6 The President and the directors at large will serve terms of two years. All Directors will hold office until their successors have been duly elected in accordance with these Bylaws, unless they resign, are removed from, or vacate their office. Directors will be eligible for re-election as Directors. In order to be eligible for election as President, an individual must have been a member of the Board of Directors for no less than one (1) full year within the previous two (2) years.
8.2 Notice of any proposed amendment or alteration to be brought to a vote before the voting membership must be submitted in writing to the Manitoba Lacrosse Association office at least fourteen (14) days prior to the date of the meeting at which such amendment is to be submitted. Proposed amendments or alterations will be circulated to all Members seven (7) days prior to the meeting.
