July 11 Community Update

Jul. 11, 2025

July 11, 2025

Dear members of Manitoba Lacrosse Association;

We are writing to update you on an ongoing matter that we have been trying to resolve with the Green family for the past few years.

Despite our numerous efforts to work through the complaints and concerns brought forward by the Green family, including participating in mediation, which was subsequently withdrawn after they failed to comply with the mediation agreement, we believe that their most recent comments on social media are considered harassment, defamatory and without substance. For this reason, our legal counsel has sent the Green family a letter of demand to remove the unsubstantiated comments on social media, effective immediately. A similar letter was sent by Lacrosse Canada to cease all direct communications with their Board, staff, volunteers and representatives due to the ongoing correspondence, personal attacks, and public threats of reputational harm.

Of note, the parents are in bad standing with the MLA, suspended indefinitely for abusive behaviour towards MLA staff and coaches, while their two adult daughters are also in bad standing for nonpayment of fees.

As dedicated volunteers and staff, we encourage people to voice their concerns and have mechanisms in place to address complaints through Sport Manitoba’s Independent Complaint Mechanism. Given the nature of the allegation, we encouraged the Green family to register their complaints.

We are deeply concerned about the wellbeing of all participants in our sport, including the volunteers and staff that work tirelessly to ensure a positive environment for athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators. For this reason, we are requesting that Sport Manitoba review this matter through their Independent Complaint Mechanism so that we can resolve this matter effectively and reasonably.

If you have any questions on this matter, please direct them to MLA President Dustin From at president@manitobalacrosse.com.

We commit to providing updates on this matter as things progress.

With thanks,

Dustin From
