Lacrosse Season is Finally Here!
Winnipeg, Manitoba, April 24, 2017– The MLA is excited for the beginning of the 2017 Box and Field Lacrosse Season! We would like to wish all our players within the Red River Lacrosse Association good luck as they begin their box lacrosse season tonight across Winnipeg. Furthermore, the Manitoba High School Field Lacrosse League is set to kick off their season briefly after the RRLA, as they have a series of games slated for this Friday at Glenlawn Collegiate. Thompson Lacrosse Association, Carberry Lacrosse, and Dauphin Lacrosse have all began organizing and practicing for the upcoming season as well.
The Manitoba Blizzard open their season this Saturday and Sunday with three games against the Sherwood Park Titans. We hope that former and current players will make the trip out to Notre Dame arena to support the Blizzard.
In other news, MLA Board Member and RRLA Referee-in-Chief Bruce Paton has informed MLA President Paul Magnan that he will be taking a leave of absence from both associations effective immediately. Mr. Paton will stay involved as the RIC with the Canadian Lacrosse Association.
All Team Manitoba Try-Outs have been announced and we look forward to seeing some new and old faces represent our province on the national stage.
The MLA is excited about what this new lacrosse year will bring for our players, coaches, officials and volunteers!

It’s Time to ReLax!
The 2017 installment of the ReLax Senior Tournament will take place from Wednesday May 23rd to Sunday May 28th. The tournament continues to engage players who have aged out of Midget and who don’t have a viable league to play in. To date, there are 64 registered players and they are looking to add at least twenty more to fill out the rosters.
In addition to the tournament, there will be a Social on the night of Saturday May 27th that is sure to include a variety of good conversation on a variety of topics, not just lacrosse. The ReLax tournament endeavors to be a unique event to keep both Junior and Senior aged players actively involved in the lacrosse game and community.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba—With everyone looking forward to the upcoming lacrosse season for both box and field, we find it prudent to also look back. The Manitoba Lacrosse Hall of Fame along with the Manitoba Lacrosse Association invites you to renew old friendships and share old memories at the annual Manitoba Lacrosse Alumni Reunion. The reunion/stag will take place at the Elmwood Legion on Sunday April 23rd, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The annual event is a great opportunity to reacquaint yourself with old teammates, coaches, and volunteers, as well as meet many individuals who have been around Manitoba Lacrosse for an extended period of time. We look forward to the event and seeing many old and new faces!
*Many alumni are not on our email list, so we would appreciate it if you would take a few minutes and contact some of your lacrosse colleagues and encourage them to attend this important lacrosse gathering.
