The Sport Support Program (SSP) is the primary funding vehicle for initiatives associated with the delivery of the Canadian Sport Policy 2012. The Federal/Provincial/Territorial Bilateral component provides funding for programming that strengthens physical literacy and children and youth participation that are compatible with the first three stages of the Canadian Sport for Life (CS4L).
Funding is aimed at projects that provide opportunities for persons from under-represented and/or marginalized populations to actively participate in sport including in roles such as athletes, coaches, officials and volunteer leaders.
The Manitoba-Community Sport for Life Program supports projects that reduce the barriers for children and youth from Aboriginal and new comer populations to participate in sport. It is a key foundation for increasing levels of physical activity in inner city, ethno-cultural, and Aboriginal populations. In partnership with Manitoba Aboriginal Sports and Recreation Council (MASRC), the focus is within both Winnipeg and isolated and remote communities throughout Manitoba.
